Carbon Estimating – Why? How?
July 27, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT
The built environment creates nearly 40% of all CO2 emissions globally. As multiple forces converge in the US, there is an urgent need to understand, measure and reduce all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions our industry produces. Such as:
- More stringent environmental, social, governance (ESG) issues reporting
- Increasing local and federal, climate legislation
- Published corporate NetZero Carbon Targets
- Consumer demands to truly address climate change and stop “greenwashing”
De-carbonizing the built environment needs to become a core component of how all of us do business if we want to truly address climate change.
Sustainability is a concern for Owners, as well as the design, engineering, construction, and maintenance professionals who help them meet their construction and operation needs. Reducing carbon emitted by your build programs and operations could greatly reduce your organization’s overall carbon footprint.
Whole life carbon estimating is a tool you can use to get you much closer to your carbon net zero goals.
This webinar will address the following:
- Why use carbon estimating?
- Broad applications of carbon estimating
- Why Whole Life Carbon Estimating?
- Considerations when implementing whole life carbon estimating
INSTRUCTORS:
As Director of Sustainability – Americas, Mark Wartenberg is developing sustainability services with a focus on helping clients de-carbonize both construction projects and existing buildings. WLCM helps clients balance all project constraints (scope, schedule, budget, risk) while integrating carbon as a constraint. Analyzing the carbon impact of build programs, while also considering cost and schedule impacts, helps owners make informed decisions across their portfolios.
Hayley Carroll is a Senior Estimator and Whole-Life Carbon Estimating Lead – Americas and technical lead for Currie & Brown’s whole-life carbon estimating (WLCE) service, a key division of the greater Whole Life Carbon Management (WLCM) service. Her background is in cost estimating, specializing in complex piping systems within the high-tech sector with experience on projects ranging from $1 million to $6 billon.
