SUMMARY:Owner Readiness for Alternative Delivery – Are You Ready to Make the Transition?
DESCRIPTION:WCCC is pleased to host this series on Alternative Project Delivery Methods (APDMs).   It will explore the themes of procurement\, project execution\, and broader organizational dynamics in the context of APDMs.   \nPART THREE THEME: Organizational Dynamics \nAlternative Project Delivery Methods (APDMs) bring flexibility\, speed\, and other benefits to Owner organizations.  However\, making the transition from traditional delivery methods can be challenging for Owners because APDMs require: \n\ndifferent ways of interacting with vendors\nnon-traditional roles and responsibilities\nnew ways of thinking\n\nThis session will provide insight into challenges that often take Owner teams by surprise during the first few projects of their APDM journey. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nWhy it is important to think about APDMs in terms of Change Management and readiness\nPre-project considerations to “prep” the owner organization for success\nCommon areas where project teams resist APDMs or revert back to traditional delivery\nHow to spot and overcome these reversion scenarios!\nBiggest gaps where owners fail to get maximum value from APDMs\n\nAudience:  Owners who are considering\, or actively making the transition to APDMs\, as well as Vendors who want to better understand the mindset\, pain points\, and thought process of Owners who are new to Alternative Delivery. \nInstructors: \nBrian Lines\, PhD\, PE\, professor at University of Kansas\, trains design and construction groups on best practices in alternative procurement\, project pursuits\, performance measurement systems\, and organizational change management.  He has implemented his tools\, templates\, and strategies on more than $1B in project value\, including many major delivery methods (DB\, CMAR\, P3\, JOC/IDIQ\, DBB). \nJeff Sawyer\, Director of Strategic Engagements for Simplar Institute\, conducts applied research in owner readiness for alternative delivery\, management of capital projects\, and risk-based partnering and planning.  He has 30+ years of experience in the engineering and construction industry.  He is former Senior Engineer for City of Prescott\, AZ and previously owned a water/wastewater Design-Build company. \nRegister a team of 3 or more from your organization and save $15 each! \nSee Flyer for complete details and registration information. \nRSVP and you will be sent a link to pay for your registration.

SUMMARY:Schedule Delay Analysis – Choosing A Method & Why Results Differ
DESCRIPTION:The rules governing recovery of damages under Suspension of Work clauses have been changing over the past two decades.  Recovery of costs and time may no longer to be taken for granted. This webinar explores operation of the Suspension of Work clause.  We will examine what damages are typically owed when work is suspended as well as some limitations of suspension damages. Five court cases setting forth key requirements necessary to collect damages are discussed.  Recommendations of what actions contractors should take when work is suspended are provided and why these actions may help Owners resolve such claims in the field rather than the courtroom. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nWhat a forensic schedule analysis is\nTypes of schedule delay analysis and how they differ\nHow to choose a schedule delay analysis method\nWhat factors and issues should be addressed before committing to this potentially lengthy and expensive process\nOnce made\, if the choice of delay analysis methods is irrevocable\nThe risk of trying to change methods mid-stream\nWhy different delay analysis methods yield different results\n\nInstructor: James G. Zack\, Jr. is Principal of James Zack Consulting\, LLC\, a construction claims consultancy dedicated to helping Owners and Contractors complete projects in the field\, not arbitration or court. He is a recognized\, published expert in mitigation\, analysis\, and resolution or defense of construction claims and disputes. In his 49-year career\, he has been involved in public and private projects throughout the U.S. and 39 countries\, working with Owners and Contractors on 5\,000+ claims. \nRegister a team of 3 or more from your organization and save $15 each! \nSee Flyer for complete details and registration information. \nRSVP and you will be sent a link to pay for your registration.
