SUMMARY:Broadcast Webinar - Whole Life Carbon Assessment - Steps & Tools
DESCRIPTION:Buildings generate over 40% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions contributing to climate change.  Multiple simultaneous forces (severe weather\, natural disaster impacts\, regulations\, financial risk reporting\, government incentives\, public perception\, cheap renewable energy) are exerting intense pressure on construction to address our outsized climate impact.  Here and globally\, our industry needs to adopt a more proactive and data-driven course. \nTo meet published Net Zero Carbon (NZC) targets and avoid worst-case scenarios defined by Paris Accords (2015)\, we must aggressively measure and address the full extent of a building’s global warming potential (GWP) – known as its carbon footprint. For 30 years the industry and regulators focused on energy use\, production\, and conservation. We’ve made enormous progress toward better and more sustainable buildings through energy codes\, energy usage monitoring/measuring\, SMART controls\, and more thermally cooperative materials. \nRegrettably\, this is not enough even as we continue to improve the grid. We cannot “offset” our way out of it or reduce our energy use and production nearly enough to meet required carbon reduction challenges. We must aggressively eliminate emissions at the source\, by stopping emissions from happening in the first place. To do so\, we must make decarbonizing the built environment\, just the new normal way we work. \nWe all have a part to play\, not just Owners and Operators. Everyone in design\, engineering\, construction\, and building maintenance must contribute. Reducing carbon emitted by construction\, and reducing GHG emissions during operation is the only way to meet the challenge. \nHowever\, we cannot manage\, nor change and improve\, that which we do not measure. So\, the industry must reset by measuring ALL the GHG emissions from the built environment\, also known as whole life carbon.    \nThis webinar will drill down on the following: \n\nWhere are the major carbon impacts in construction?\nWhy does this matter\, and especially right now?\nWhat is Whole Life Carbon (WLC) & Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA)\nWhy focus on the embodied carbon impacts in construction?\nHow to do a carbon assessment and what gets measured?\nWhat tools can you use to do an assessment?\n\nPRESENTER:   \nMark Wartenberg is a consultant helping organizations de-carbonize both construction projects and existing buildings.  WLCM helps clients balance all project constraints (scope\, schedule\, budget\, risk) while integrating carbon as a constraint.  Analyzing the carbon impact of build programs\, while also considering cost and schedule impacts\, helps owners make informed decisions across their portfolios. \nRegister a team of 3 or more from your organization and save $15 each! \n\nSee Flyer for complete details and registration information. \nRSVP using the form below and you will be sent a link to pay for your registration. \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Three New Safety Measures – What’s in Your Mind Matters
DESCRIPTION:Safety is defined as a state in which hazards and conditions leading to physical\, psychological\, or material harm are controlled to preserve the health and well-being of individuals and the community. \nIn construction\, when we think about safety\, we usually think about physical safety – keeping workers safe from accidents and injuries. \nBut there is much more to safety. Safety is more than a physical thing – it is also a “head thing.” \nIn this webinar\, you will learn: \n\nHow your brain has so much to do with project safety.\n3 safety brain “hacks” backed by science\, which can improve project safety and productivity by over 20%.\nSpecific tips and tools you can start using today to improve your overall project safety and productivity.\n\nWhen you stop looking at only the physical risks your employees face on your projects\, and start looking at the brain-created risks\, you will be able to break through to a whole new level of project safety. \n>> This is an excellent seminar for leaders\, managers\, and teams at all levels in all work settings. \nPresenter: Sue Dyer\, MBA\, MIPI\, is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of her book\, The Trusted Leader. Founder of the International Partnering Institute\, she created the IPI Project Leader Certification training and designation.  She has helped over 4\,000 construction teams\, on projects worth $180 million+\, create high-trust high-performing teams.  She has broad industry experience\, serving as Executive Director of the United Contractors Association\, as well as six other construction associations.  As the “Godmother of Partnering\,” Sue developed the “Construction Scorecard” to help project teams steer their projects toward success.  In her ongoing study of project and leadership success she has noted some important safety factors which\, when addressed\, can make a tremendous difference in project safety. \nRegister a team of 3 or more from your organization and save $15 each! \nSee Flyer for complete details and registration information. \nRSVP using the form below and you will be sent a link to pay for your registration. \n

SUMMARY:Broadcast Webinar - Overview of Construction Claims & Disputes
DESCRIPTION:This webinar discusses the 11 basic types of construction claims included in most standard contracts used in the U.S. (AIA\, ConsensusDocs\, EJCDC\, etc.): directed changes; constructive changes; differing site conditions; directed suspensions of work; constructive suspensions; force majeure events; delays; accelerations; constructive accelerations; terminations for convenience; and terminations for default \nFor each type of claim\, it outlines: \n\nentitlement and causation elements claimants must demonstrate to justify their right to prevail and recover damages\nelements of the burden of proof required of all claimants\nBasic requirements concerning damages\n\nIt also identifies several types of owner claims against contractors\, discuss claims under various project delivery methods\, and summarize accepted claims preparation and analysis methodology.  It conclude with an outline of various dispute resolution methodologies. \nThis webinar will help attendees: \n\nRecognize that all parties to a construction contract must anticipate changes and claims.\nBe more aware of the fundamentals of contracts and claims.\nGain perspective on the “universe of construction claims.”\nSee how the basic three-part test of a claim (entitlement\, causation\, and damages) applies to each type of claim.\nUnderstand burden of proof requirement all claimants (both owners &contractors) must meet.\nBetter understand how to analyze and settle or defend against construction claims.\nKnow ways owners and contractors must deal with construction claims situations and events.\nAppreciate the downside risk of leaving claims and disputes to fester until the end of a project.\n\nWebinar Addresses: \n\n¨ Contractor Claims vs Owner Claims and How to Analyze Them\n¨ Owner Claims – What Owners Must Prove\n¨ Claims Damages\n¨ Claims and Project Delivery Methods\n¨ Claims Analysis\n¨ Dispute Resolution Methods\n\nWho would benefit most from this program?   \n\nProject Owners\,\nOwner Representatives\,\nDesign Professionals\,\nConstruction Managers\,\nProject Managers & more\n\nRegister your team of 3 or more and SAVE $15.00/each. \nWCCC Members:   $90/each        Team of 3+ $75/each \nNon-Members:      $105/each     Team of 3+ $90/each \nNo-shows\, & cancellations after 3/3/26\, are subject to the full fee.  You may send Subs \nEvent Flyer: \nhttps://westerncouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/3-5-2026-Webinar-Overview-of-Construction-Claims-Disputes-Flyer-Reg-Form.pdf
